1. Set your goal
When setting your fundraising goal, be ambitious but make sure your goal is achievable. A high target can encourage people to donate more, but too high of a target may be unattainable. To help kick start your fundraising efforts and reach your goal, consider being your own first donor. Your commitment to the cause will help set the tone for future donations and likely encourage your friends and family to donate more, helping reach your goal faster.
2. Get personal
Once you sign up, personalise your individual or team page with profile pictures, and customise your reasons for participating in the virtual walk-a-thon. Share with your donors why participating is important to you, and reinforce how their donations contribute to supporting vulnerable women and children in crisis. Family, friends and coworkers will be willing to donate more if they know how valuable their donations are. To remind them of what their donations can help achieve, click here.
3. Share your profile using online platforms
Share your page through different social media platforms and communication channels; Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter, Email, Whatsapp and Text. Tell people why you have chosen to complete the Family Fun Day Virtual Walk-a-thon, and ask family and friends to donate. Once you have reached out to family and friends for donations, share it with everyone - people are more likely to donate if some money has already been raised. Remember, the more visible your profile is, the more donations you will receive. To help out, we have created a donation pitch template for you to use, click here.
4. Thank Your Donors
When someone makes a contribution to your profile, it shows they believe in your cause. Be sure to thank your donors and keep them updated on your progress. Simply send them a message of thanks, or give them a shoutout on your social media pages for their generosity. To keep donor’s up to date with your progress, be sure to share updates on how much you’ve raised so far, and how much you still need donated to hit your target goal. Also, be sure sure to post images to Instagram and Facebook of you completing your 5km walk, with the hashtags #walkwithus2021 and #ffdwalkathon2021. Don’t forget to tag Parramatta Women’s Shelter using our social handles found HERE
5. Increase Your Target
If you reach your target amount quickly, you can simply increase it through your profile. Be sure to inform your community of donors, thanking them for helping you hit your initial target and that you have now increased your target. This can help attract new donors, or might inspire previous donors to give more.
